Tails from Home -- Steel

Hello NLGA Dog Blog Readers,

Happy adopt-a-greyhound month!  Today we have a very special 'tails from home'.  Why, you ask, is today's post so special?!  Well...today is the 'gottcha day' for our featured hound!  He is being adopted today!  Happy 'gottcha' day Steel!

Steel

Liquid Steel is a beautiful, shiny, grinning boy. He loves life and is living it to full enjoyment every day!

He loves to rip the squeakers out of soft toys, and chew them up. He is exceptionally good at ripping out squeakers and chewing them up, fortunately he trades up, and I can take the contraband away from him. He loves to go for walks, car rides, and he loves his kibble. Did I mention that he loves his kibble? No matter what time it is, if I approach the dog food, he starts pogoing ( jumping up and down and he may even nit at me) and then sprints to his kennel. He may return to the kitchen more than once to tell me to hurry up with the kibble. Of course at my house if I catch you in the kennel it is worth a treat, so Mr. Steel has figured out that if he gets in the kennel and vocalizes, I will check it out and he will get a treat. He has also figured out that if he quickly eats his treat and then exits his kennel and sprints back in, that is worth another treat. The boy has me trained.

He loves his KYJEN Hard boiled Softie toys because they squawk and squawk, and squawk, and when tossed they bounce and rebound in unexpected directions which only make them all the better to pounce on again, and again, and again. The American Bison chews pale by comparison. Kongs lack the squawk, but if they are loaded with treats they're OK.

When Steel returns from a walk, he bounds up the steps and rolls around on the floor, then is likely to find his blanket and snuggle in for a nap.

Steel also enjoys hanging out on the deck, being a black coated boy he easily absorbs heat from the sun, it was about 30 degrees that day and he was not very interested in coming in.

Steel does not like to be left alone, and he does have some separation anxiety. Looking at his teeth it is obvious that in the past he has been a kennel chewer. However, it is my prediction that with time he will get over his separation anxiety, and he will make a successful transition from the kennel to the couch.

Steel has been a foster with us for awhile.  Today he officially calls our house his home!

Thanks for sharing Steel's 'tails' with us!  Happy 'gottcha' day Steel!  May you and your family have many, many happy 'tails' together!
