NLGA @ St. Croix Valley Kennel Club Dog Show

St. Croix Valley Kennel Club Dog Show

Saturday, August 22 9AM-4PM
Sunday, August 23 9AM-4PM
Washington County Fair Grounds

We would love to have you and your wonderful Greyhound(s) join us for the Dog Show.

"What's in it for me" you might ask. Where should I start. It's a chance to show off your exceptional pet. It's an opportunity to learn from other Greyhound owners, if you have a perplexing problem, bounce it off another Greyhound owner, somebody will have a great solution for you, everybody has a story to share. If you love dogs in general, you'll see breeds of dogs that you never knew existed. Not to mention "Fair Food". Most of all it's a chance to give back. Your Greyhound has enriched your lives and you adore your pet, this is a chance to "Pay it Forward" and show other potential adopters or interested folks how fabulous their lives will become, and all because of the love that a Greyhound will provide, no strings attached.

Come out and share your love of greyhounds! We have a nice shady spot in the vendor area.

Bring something soft for your hounds to get comfy on and a chair for yourselves.

Please contact Donna to schedule your time. 763-754-9754 or guber2nac@aol.com

PLAYfully Yours... Life as a Baby Brother!

It's been two whole months since I came home to my new family and it sure didn't take me long to discover how much FUN being the baby of the family can be! My Day (he's my big brother) says I get away with too many things because I'm the baby but I just say I'm having lots and lots of fun!

Right away I discovered how much fun it is to figure out which toys are my Days absolute favourites so I can take them from him and hoard them... I usually don't sleep in my kennel but sometimes I do like to take quick naps cozied in with all the toys I 'collect' from my Day.

Greyt Friday Walk and Shakespeare

Join us for a Greyt Friday Walk and a little Shakespeare too!

The Greyt Friday Walk will be taking place at Silverwood Park this week!

The walk will begin at 6:30pm. We will walk on the paved trails in Silverwood Park along the lake shore. After the walk, those who are interested can enjoy the summer evening and find a nice spot to sit on the great lawn for an 8pm performance of Much Ado About Nothing.

Public Theater of Minnesota's productions of William Shakespeare are youthful, fast-paced, easy to understand - and sure to delight even a Shakespeare skeptic.

We do not want to be a distraction to the performers nor other attendee ... so bring your good behavior!

Meet near the southeast corner of the parking lot at 6:30pm for the walk. Or you can skip the walk and just come to the performance!

[Note: Participants in The Greyt Walking Series events assume complete responsibility for themselves and their greyhounds (and/or other dogs). Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption, walk leader, and walk participants are not held liable for damages, injuries, or losses suffered before, during, or after the walks.]

And for the every-walk reminders...

In the event of severe weather warnings, the Greyt Friday Walk will be cancelled. Light rain, snow, and normal variations in Minnesota weather will not cancel the walk. Adjust accordingly and come prepared for the elements!

The Oakdale Summerfest Parade is on Thursday!  That's tomorrow!  This is the shortest parade we attend, at just 1 mile long! Although it is short in length, it is a BIG parade as far as attendance! Plus, they have the best cheese curds in the park at the end of the parade.

The dogs get lots of attention at this parade! It starts at 6:00 PM.

Parade line-up is in the parking lot of Transfiguration Catholic Church in Oakdale.

The parade line-up starts at 5:00pm with the parade kicking off at 6pm.

Meet Action AKA Duke

Here is an update on Duke from his foster family...

As sweet and calm as an almost three year old boy can be. He loves to walk, and is a good walker. He would love to catch a squirrel or bunny, but has figured out the person on the other end if the leash is, well, A LOT slower, and will probably never, ever, catch anything unless it is tossed to her. Duke remains interested, but is settling down nicely.

Thunderstorm
By Katie Gilstrap

A sprinkle of rain -
A flash in the sky -
A thunderous roar -
And suddenly I
Can sense that a storm
Is just up ahead.
