Foster Feature -- New Year for Sadie

Sadie would really like a forever home to celebrate the new year.  She is so sweet and quiet; very ladylike.  Sadie does not go on the furniture and goes to the door or whines a little to ask to go outside.  Sadie would be a perfect only dog and would fit into a home with another housemate.  She is cat-safe.

Sadie does have food allergy issues but that is easily controlled with the proper prescription food.  Sadie's birthday is March 1 (which she shares with her foster mom) and will be 8 (same age as foster mom :))

Contact NLGA if you would like to welcome Sadie into your home.

Picking up Available Hounds

A couple volunteers drove to Burlington, WI, to pick up four hounds that recently retired.  The trip was fairly uneventful--if you do not count the many times Quartz tried to get into the driver's seat.  Apparently he thought he could drive.  Here they are--all settled in for a 5 hour drive.

Sadie

Sadie is 7 1/2 years old and is looking for a permanent home.  She is very calm and quiet and likes to go upstairs to spend some time away from her foster brothers.  She does have some medical issues but she is the sweetest girl.  Sadie gets very excited when it is time to go for a walk.

Euro Has a Home

Euro--Adoption PendingPDFPrintE-mail

Racing name is Europol.   This beautiful black boy is 3.5 years old and he weighs 75 pounds

Euro is an independent thinker and soaks everything in.  He likes being outside and seeing all the world has to offer.  He thoroughly enjoyed hiking in the woods over the weekend.  Easily completed the 5k walk on Saturday and even found a small dog ‘friend’ to walk with along the way!  Euro enjoys meet & greets.  He likes all the other greyhounds and everyone who comes by to say ‘hi’; especially the kids!  He eats all his food, loves treats, and has an iron stomach.  He waits patiently to get his teeth brushed.  He has no problem going up or down the steep inside steps.  And sleeps soundly all night long with his eyes tightly shut.  Euro is not scared of loud noises, or thunder!  He is learning to play (he’s a ‘nitter’!) and is getting a bigger personality each day!  Hands down, Euro’s a keeper!  He is going to make a lucky someone an amazing greyhound friend!

Retired Racing Greyhounds Make Awesome Pets

You cannot go wrong by choosing to share your home with a retired greyhound.  Contrary to popular belief, they do not require much exercise and prefer to lay on a cushy dog bed (or the sofa) for most of the day.  Greyhounds do not tend to bark much, if at all, and do not get that stinky dog smell.  They seem more like really, really big cats!!  We will share information on this blog about the greyhounds that Northern Lights Greyhound Adoption want to place in a forever home.   Check back often for updates on how the dogs are doing in their foster homes.
