Foster Feature -- Meet Ivanka

Ivanka is a hard name to say so I am calling her Ivy.  She is a beautiful, affectionate girl.

The car ride home was interesting to say the least.  Ivy was insistent upon trying to sit in my lap and it took all my right arm strength to keep her in the back of my vehicle.  She may be little but she is strong.  The only time she was not trying to get in front was when she spotted a bicyclist.  Ivy was fascinated by each bicyclist we saw and would go to the back window to watch until it was out of sight.

So far Ivy is getting along with her foster brothers, even the non-greyhound.  She is the lone girl in this pack!! We went for a walk tonight and Ivy was not afraid of all the strange noises she heard or strange things she saw.  Ivy got her toenails clipped and teeth brushed without major incident.

Checking things out.

Ivy loves to go for walks and has a lot of energy.  We are working on good leash manners; she likes to pull and try to run.  She does settle down well after about 1 mile.  Ivy loves her kibble and runs to a crate when the food bowls are ready.  Might not be her crate and it might already be occupied, but Ivy does not care.

Ivy is very affectionate and likes to stay close to foster mom. She does not bark much but will give a growl to one of the other dogs if they displease her.  Ivy went to her first meet and greet this weekend and I found out that she is not small dog safe.  She growled at every small dog that came anywhere near our area.  She was fine with medium and larger dogs.  Ivy seems to like children just fine.

If you are looking for a higher energy little girl and you do not have a small dog or cat, Ivy might be the right fit for you.
