Follow a Hound to Retirement -- 2 Boys and a Girl

Hello NLGA Dog Blog Readers!

Another three new retired racing greyhounds joined NLGA yesterday afternoon!  A beautiful trio of fawn/red hounds!

Smith (a.k.a. Nike), Rosa, and Hugo

A special thanks goes out to HGA for their help with getting this trio to Minnesota!  Your help is much appreciated!  And to the NLGA volunteers who help shuttle the group across the city!  Much thanks!  (If you are interested in help with a future NLGA haul, let us know!  nlgahounds@gmail.com)

Our three newest hounds started out their morning fairly early and were on the road for approximately seven hours before making it to the twin cities area.

Meet Rosa (Killer Rosa).  Rosa is a young girl; only 18 months old!  She participated in a few training races but decided it was not her cup of tea!  She's a little girl!

Rosa (Killer Rosa)

Meet Smith (Slatex Smith).  Smith had a good racing career and is almost 4.5 years old.  Smith has a small white patch on the back of his neck that sort of resembles a nike swoosh ... hence, in the kennel they also called him Nike.  He is a littermate to Vincent.

Meet Hugo (Superior Hugo).  This nice boy also had a good racing career and is almost 4.5 years old.  He has a gorgeous fawn coat!

Hugo (Superior Hugo)

They stretched their legs and relieved themselves and then hopped into different vehicles for the short 25 mile drive across the city!

Upon arrival at the clinic everyone went for a short walk to stretch their legs again and find those perfect spots!  When we went inside Smith immediately spotted the scale; he walked right over and stood like a gentleman on it just like during his racing days!

Not quick enough with the camera ... caught him walking off!

Welcome to NLGA Smith, Hugo, and Rosa!
